Spice It Up!
with Cameron Taylor-Brown

Cameron Taylor-Brown studied fiber art at the University of California, Berkeley with artist Ed Rossbach and textile design at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. She worked in New York City as a fabric stylist, taught textile design at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science and worked as an exhibition curator. Since 1985, Taylor-Brown has lived in Los Angeles where she is active in arts and education. She is a board member of the Fowler Textile Council, and was a past President of California Fibers and Designing Weavers. She recently founded ARTSgarage, a textile resource center in Los Angeles. Her work is widely exhibited and has been featured in Fiber Art Now, American Craft and Shuttle, Spindle and Dyepot. She teaches color and design workshops throughout the United States.
MORNING PRESENTATION March 11: SPICE IT UP! FROM BLAND TO BEAUTIFUL Spice transforms food and basic fabric into something truly exceptional. Examples and exercises with yarn twisting and wrapping, and adding small amounts of accent yarns will show you what a difference they make.
WORKSHOP March 11 1-4, March 12 9-4: Continue exploring how to spice up! your weaving. Design and wind a narrow “spice it up” warp and weave some weft variants and an original design. OR come with pre-warped loom and do lots of variants in weft and an original design.
Skill Level: Advanced beginner (understands basic weaving terms and basic techniques) to advanced. Workshop limited to 15 students
Workshop Fee: $85 for full SCHG members $130 for nonmembers and subscribers.
Workshop materials Fee: $15.00 for additional yarns.
