Join your fellow weavers on Zoom for our September meeting, beginning with conversation and business, followed by show and tell. We'll then hear from our special guest speaker, Denise Kovnat
"Once Upon a Warp: From the Loom to the Runway"
Every year since 2008 Denise has set herself a challenge: Weave a garment (or two) that will be juried into the Convergence fashion show as part of the biannual conference of the Handweavers' Guild of America. (Alas, postponed because of Covid-19 from 2020 to 2022.) Every year, she's accomplished that goal, with lots of ups and downs along the way! She'll take us along her weaving journey from concept to completion of the garment. Anyone who weaves or creates fabric or designs garments will relate. Along with her slides, Denise promises to model some of her beautiful creations.
About Denise Kovnat:
Denise Kovnat has taught at Convergence, MAFA and guilds across North America, focusing on echo, collapse weave, and deflected double weave. Her garments have been juried into Convergence® fashion shows each year since 2008. In 2016, her coat Blue Rills received the Seattle Weavers Guild Virginia Harvey Award.
