COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS

As an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, SCHG is committed to making hand weaving accessible to everyone in the community.  Our goal is to introduce weaving to the community and provide resources for the public to learn more about weaving.  We have provided weaving demonstrations at various museums, libraries, parks, and community centers throughout Southern California and in 2024 will be leading Weave A Bookmark events at local libraries.

In addition to providing weaving demonstrations, we also handcraft and donate usable items, such as scarves and baby blankets, for various nonprofit organizations.

Below are some of our outreach activities.  To get more information about our Outreach Programs, please contact our Outreach Coordinator.

Fiber Arts Day

Each year The Huntington Library in Pasadena hosts Fiber Arts Days.  SCHG has participated in these events for several years and we demonstrate different fiber arts.  Come join us to learn how to spin yarn, weave cloth, and use natural dyes to color spun yarn and fabric.

Other Exhibitions and Demonstration Events

We love to share our work through exhibits and demonstrations at museums, libraries, galleries, and other public venues.

For information on arranging a Fiber Arts exhibit or demo day, please contact our Outreach Coordinator.

Scarves for Homeless Youth

Woven with love and care, the scarves we donate to My Friend's Place

provide uniqueness and beauty along with protection from the elements.

We're always looking for new Outreach opportunities. If you have ideas, please contact our Outreach Coordinator.
