You will create the beginnings of a small twined basket using waxed linen thread. A small base will be provided to each student and you will learn several twining stitches and explore the many possibilities of pattern, shape and texture through lecture and trial. You’ll go home with enough materials to finish your basket plus a handout with instructions and illustrations. With one teacher for every three students, you'll get plenty of hands-on coaching.
INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOP FEE: All necessary materials, including basket base, waxed linen thread in assorted colors, handout with instructions and illustrations
ABOUT THE TEACHERS: Claudia Buchinsky is a long-time member of SCHG. She took a twining class quite a few years ago and has been exploring the technique ever since.
Carolyn Sell is a member of SCHG and Seaside Weavers, always “dabbling” in new things and absorbing new techniques from long-time members of the guilds. Claudia is her current mentor with twining with waxed linen.
Rosalie Kessing, also a long-time SCHG member, is a fiber artist who works in multiple mediums. Her latest love is twining with Claudia as her teacher. She is exploring the technique using traditional and non-traditional threads.
All three are currently under the tutelage of Cael Chappell, master basket maker.
